Mushroom Log Growing Workshop

Mushroom Log Growing Workshop

Join us for a workshop on the ancient technique of growing mushrooms on logs.

In this informative and practical workshop you will learn how to grow tasty and highly nutritious mushrooms in your own garden or allotment which can provide a harvest for 5-10 years.

Situated in the wonderful Bedford Fields Community Forest Garden, we will be using freshly felled logs from trees within the site that were overgrown.

  • Make your own mushroom log to take home with you
  • Learn about the wonders of fungi; how they grow, their role in ecology and the conditions they need to thrive
  • Sample Lion's Mane mushroom tea
  • Get a punnet of fresh mushrooms from the YME farm to enjoy whilst you wait for yours to grow!
  • Gain insights about the production process of YME and how we’ve gone from growing mushrooms at home to a commercial small scale mushroom farm

All materials will be provided including instruction manual for nurturing your log post-workshop. The workshop will be held outdoors but there is shelter.

Location: Bedford Fields Community Forest Garden, Cliff Mount Woodhouse, Leeds, LS6 2LG

Time: 12.00pm-2.30pm (Saturday 14th March)
